Sleep Apnea is a breathing disorder in which the airway becomes restricted – leading to limited breathing or stoppages of breathing during sleep.  When the brain recognizes lack of oxygen flow it causes the individual to suddenly wake from sleep to allow normal breathing to resume.  This event can occur hundreds of times each night, depriving an individual of rejuvenating and refreshing sleep.  Sleep apnea often goes unnoticed to the individual, but they will experience some or all of the following: daytime sleepiness, non-refreshing sleep, snoring, and fatigue.
